ShelterBox Open Day
Following our support to ShelterBox previously with the aid to Japan, we wanted to share with you their Open Day that took place this month as they opened the doors of their Cornish headquarters in Helston to the public for a look behind the busy scenes.
The Summer Open Day was a great chance for supporters to find out about ShelterBox disaster relief work around the world. Visitors found out about all the items that go into a ShelterBox, how it gets packed and how it gets delivered to those in need. They also learnt about the Young ShelterBox project, how ShelterBox track weather related disasters with the Met Office and speak to ShelterBox Response Team volunteers about their experiences delivering aid in the field. The Summer Open Day was free to attend and doors opened from 10am until 3pm on 20 August.
You can also make a difference by donating to ShelterBox. Just click on the link through to their website and see how you can help.
ShelterBox provides emergency shelter and lifesaving supplies for families around the world who are affected by disasters at the time when they need it the most. The ShelterBox solution in disaster response is as simple as it is effective. They deliver the essentials a family needs to survive in the immediate aftermath of a disaster.
Keep up the good work ShelterBox!!
Each large, green ShelterBox is tailored to a disaster but typically contains a disaster relief tent for an extended family, blankets, water storage and purification equipment, cooking utensils, a stove, a basic tool kit, a children's activity pack and other vital items.
